Changes to Driving Test
Steve Pearce School of Motoring will keep you up to date with all changes in driving procedures.
From the 4th October 2010 there are some important changes to the practical driving test. From this date there will be a new section that includes “Independent Driving.” During your test you will have to drive either by a series of directions provided to you by the examiner or by following road signs, it may include both and will last about 10 minutes. If you can’t remember, don’t worry; you can confirm the direction that you need to travel by asking the examiner.
The “Independent Driving” part of your driving test is not a test of your navigational skills but the examiner will consider your ability to understand road signs and should you need to confirm any of the directions, the examiner will consider whether you had asked for confirmation when it was safe to do so.

Of course when you have passed your driving test your ability to drive independently is paramount; we will guide you as part of your driver training to read directional road signs and drive independently of directional instructions.
