The Practical Driving Test is carried out by a Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency examiner; it will take between 38 to 45 minutes of driving and manoeuvres. The examiner will start by a simple eye test where you are asked to read a number plate from a distance of approximately 20 meters.
You will then asked 2 questions under the Mechanical Awareness ('Show me, tell me' questions: car driving test) - Steve Pearce School of Motoring will of course provide you with guidance - PRACTICE HERE
The examiner will want to see that you are confident and can drive in a competent and safe manner. You will need to show that you can perceive the situations as they arise and respond with sound judgement.
During the driving test you will be asked to conduct one reversing manoeuvre and one in three students will be asked to perform an Emergency Stop. The test will be conducted in busy traffic conditions around the town and then on country roads, all selected to give a fair test. On completion of the test you will receive the result.
